Lisa Bogard named president of Wellpoint Washington

Wellpoint Washington Inc.—a leading coordinator of Medicaid managed healthcare benefits in Washington and wholly-owned subsidiary of Elevance Health—announced Wednesday that Lisa Bogard has been named as the health plan’s new president.

“Lisa is a devoted leader and highly respected healthcare executive who has extensive knowledge of Medicaid and healthcare plan operations, as well as a passion for serving communities through an integrated whole-health approach,” said Dr. Barsam Kasravi, president of Elevance Health’s Medicaid West Region. “She brings a strong track record of innovation fueled by growth and health equity, while building and sustaining a high-performing culture amongst her peers and associates. We look forward to her leadership as we continue to make real progress toward improving the health of the people and communities we serve across Washington.”

In her new role, Bogard assumes responsibility for all aspects of Wellpoint’s health plan operations in Washington, and will work to ensure its more than 230,000 members receive access to innovative, high-quality healthcare and support services. She will also lead efforts to strengthen relationships in the community with state leaders, providers, and other key stakeholders.

Bogard has more than 25 years of healthcare experience and executive leadership, including 17 years with Elevance Health. Most recently, Bogard served as the Medicaid plan president for Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Nevada, where her leadership culminated in the successful implementation of pivotal initiatives, focused on advancing accessibility, promoting health equity, and elevating care standards within the state. 

Bogard’s work was recognized by state leaders for positively reshaping health outcomes across Nevada. She has a bachelor of arts degree in Psychology from Southern New Hampshire University and a Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
