Heidi Kriz, director of medical policy and medical management at Cambia Health Solutions, said the health plan is trying to promote open standards and the use of Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources to help healthcare communications move quicker, faster, and more transparently.
“And use a common data standard so everybody can speak the same language, similar to the banking industry. You can take your ATM card to any ATM, whether it’s your bank or not, and get money out. Healthcare is very far behind the financial industry in a sense of being able to be interoperable and directly communicate with each other. That’s what we’re trying to work on.”
