It was such a pleasure to kick off the 2023 Utah State of Reform Conference a couple weeks ago with an incredibly valuable panel conversation about Utah’s nation-leading initiative to promote value-based care: the One Utah Health Collaborative.
Jaime Wissler, the Collaborative’s executive director, RyLee Curtis, director of community engagement for University of Utah Health, and Jennifer Strohecker, Utah’s Medicaid director, discussed how the initiative will impact the state’s healthcare sector. Following opening remarks from Wissler, Leavitt Partners Managing Principal Rebecca Nielsen guided the three leaders in a conversation.
“The Collaborative is something that everyone in this room can participate in—and I hope that you will,” Wissler said. “We have a self-perception, maybe even a misconception, that Utah is a healthy and affordable state. The data says otherwise, and is reportedly skewed by the fact that we are such a young state. So we must address this issue.”
