Sen. Rhonda Fields, chair of Colorado’s Senate Health & Human Services Committee, said her primary healthcare concerns are access and affordability.

“I believe that healthcare is not a privilege, it’s a right. And you should have access to it, and it should be affordable. If you have a medication that is $500 for three or four pills, and the person is on a fixed income, (or) they’re a senior, (or) they’re isolated there should be some kind of pay structure that’s in place to deal with people who are not as fortunate to still be able to access the care they need, even though they don’t have the resources. I believe in the common good. And the common good means we have to focus on the people who don’t have the resources to maintain their health because of cost.”
