Through his work as a project specialist at the USC Homelessness Policy Research Institute, Nicholas Weinmeister and his team collect data on homelessness in the Southern California region to draw on to inform future strategies for supporting the unhoused and housing-insecure population. Weinmeister told us about some of this work at the 2023 Southern California State of Reform Health Policy Conference.

We’re a little bit more interested in some of the sub-populations of focus. Specifically, older adults is an area of work that we’re going to be growing in, in partnership with Dr. Trejo at the Department of Disability and Aging and some of our members that work with that intersection of older adults, and the intersection of housing instability and homelessness.
