At the recent Maryland State of Reform Conference, we caught up with Uma Ahluwalia, a managing principal at Health Management Associates, to discuss her main areas of focus in Maryland health policy. In addition to Medicaid redeterminations, the status of the state’s 1115 waiver, and public health, Ahluwalia is primarily focused on her specialty area of children’s behavioral health.
“There’s a fair amount of activity in HMA’s sort of sweet spot, which is bringing Medicaid, children’s behavioral health, and child welfare, to the table to talk about children’s behavioral health as opposed to doing their work in siloed ways. And what are the policy and financing approaches that can help with that integration?”
