Ronnie Tyson, the director of outpatient services with Flint/Saginaw Odyssey House and the vice president of the provider alliance at the Community Mental Health Association of Michigan, focuses on supporting Michiganders with substance use disorder. At the 2023 Michigan State of Reform Health Policy Conference, Tyson told us about some of his experience working in this space.

“What we find is that there are a number of social determinants of health that are also associated with return to use, and/or relapse … people use substances to meet a need, and we provide around those needs based on a thorough assessment of a person and their needs.”
