Michael Parr, the executive director of dual eligible special needs plans (D-SNPs) at United Healthcare, spoke with us about Michigan’s upcoming procurement of D-SNP services and how this streamlined coverage plan will better serve Michiganders who are eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid. We caught up with Parr at the 2023 Michigan State of Reform Health Policy Conference.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is expected to release a Request for Proposal for the provision of D-SNP services at the end of the year. Parr discussed the implications of this transition from the MI Health Link program.

“So we’re going from sort of an introductory state in D-SNP in Michigan, serving dual eligibles, to something that’s much more refined and developed to meet the priorities of the state locally here in Michigan, and not just through the federal government and the Medicare Advantage program.”
