What They’re Watching: Hillit Meidar-Alfi, Spatially Health

Hillit Meidar-Alfi, the founder and CEO of Spatially Health, told us at the recent 2023 Florida State of Reform Health Policy Conference about how her organization is working to foster a better understanding of the role that social determinants of health play in healthcare delivery for many Floridians.

Meidar-Alfi noted that around 74% of the country’s population has at least one of these social determinants, around 54% have two or more, and around a third have more than that.

“Do the providers really know who these patients are, and what specifically those health barriers are? We know that healthcare is really local, and even for [providers] in any one of their geographies and in their markets, they see tremendous variation from one patient to another.

So for them to have the ability to understand, at that individual patient level, specifically what those health barriers are that they’re dealing with, it’s really important for them to [be able to] address [them] …”
