For Drew Murray, senior director of strategy and public affairs at the Michigan Health Council, growing and supporting Michigan’s healthcare workforce is a top priority. One of the projects his organization is working on is the creation of a statewide workforce plan. Murray told us about some of his work in Michigan’s healthcare space at the recent 2023 Michigan State of Reform Health Policy Conference.
“In workforce in particular, it’s about relationships and about people. We cannot produce a workforce overnight, so do we have those trusting relationships in our community to create the partnerships? … Those relationships, even at the partnership level, don’t develop overnight. And once that is established, how do we actually help create the infrastructure?”
