It was a privilege to hear from Dr. Georges C. Benjamin, executive director of the American Public Health Association, to kick off last month’s 2023 Maryland State of Reform Health Policy Conference.
Georges discussed the promise Maryland’s 1332 waiver holds for reducing costs (the extension of which recently received federal approval), how to improve the country’s “decimated” public health system, and more.
“I think universal coverage under an all-payer system is the national model to get us to where we need to go as a nation, and I think Maryland can provide the leadership to be able to get us there as a nation.”
