Laura McKeane is the director of oral health services at the coordinated care organization AllCare Health, and also chairs Oregon’s Health Care Workforce Committee. At our recent 2022 Oregon State or Reform conference, McKeane discussed what needs to be done to address the state’s ongoing workforce shortage.
She wants to expand eligibility for nurse loan repayment programs to individuals with Associate’s Degrees, rather than only allowing those with Bachelor’s Degrees to benefit from them.
“We have a lot of people graduate with an AA, and they are not able to take advantage of that loan repayment because they don’t have a BS. And I think that they deserve that opportunity as well.”
