The top priority this year for Oregon hospitals is “operational survival,” according Becky Hultberg, president and CEO of the Oregon Association of Hospitals and Health Systems. Hultberg sat down with us during the 2023 Oregon State of Reform conference last fall to discuss the top-of-mind topics in state health policy for her organization.
“It’s a very difficult operational environment for hospitals today, so one of the things we’re looking at is, how do we support hospitals in that environment? … What our goal should be over the next two or three years in that we don’t lose any hospitals in Oregon, and that we maintain essential services in our communities. That may seem like a low bar, but for the next couple of years, post-COVID-19, that’s where we’ll need to focus.”
