To close out the recent 2023 Florida State of Reform Health Policy Conference, it was an honor to have Simone Marstiller, former secretary of the Agency for Health Care Administration, deliver the Closing Keynote. Drawing on her experience during her tenure leading the state’s Medicaid program, Marstiller offered her input on current health policy movement and some predictions for the future of healthcare in Florida.

Marstiller highlighted some of the reforms passed during the state’s recently concluded legislative session—”one for the history books,” according to Marstiller. These include the Prescription Drug Reform Act, an expansion of Florida KidsCare eligibility, and the creation of a state sickle cell registry.

Following her remarks, Marstiller sat down with conference host and Health Management Associates Managing Principal Beth Kidder for a valuable conversation about Medicaid, with a focus on the state’s upcoming reprocurement of Medicaid managed care contracts. You can watch the full keynote above.
