We closed out last month’s 2022 Colorado State of Reform Health Policy Conference with an informative presentation about one of Colorado’s most ambitious, widescale health policy pursuits: the Behavioral Health Administration (BHA). We were so grateful to welcome Morgan Medlock, MD, the state’s first BHA Commissioner, for our Closing Keynote.

Officially operationalized earlier this year, the BHA’s goal is to revolutionize and streamline the delivery of behavioral healthcare in Colorado by coordinating among state agencies to develop a community-informed approach to behavioral healthcare provision.

Medlock outlined the BHA’s primary mission:

“We exist to ensure that every person has equitable opportunities to achieve mental health wellness, and so we hold ourselves accountable for creating meaningful outcomes across the state. For you, for our loved ones, and for generations to come. We invite you to be a part of this story, which is still being written.”
