What They’re Watching: Scott Coffin, Alameda Alliance for Health

Scott Coffin is the Chief Executive Officer of Alameda Alliance for Health, which provides health coverage to 270,000 children and adults through the Medi-Cal program and Alliance Group Care program for In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) workers in Alameda County. He joins us in this episode of “What They’re Watching” to talk about community outreach.

“Well the Alliance serves 270,000 members in Alameda County. And our energy right now is focused on regulatory compliance and fixing our operations and making sure that we’re doing what we’re supposed to do every day. We’re supporting our members and our providers for timely access to care, making sure that appointments are met in a timely way. That the experience that the member has in the physician’s office is the best available in the county and to make sure that any follow up issues, case management that’s needed that we’re there to assist our members.

We’re right now involved with several pilots, these are intensive case management pilots that we’re involved with, that do outreach into the community, working with homeless directly in the field. Working through our community health centers, through our hospitals, through our entire network actually in Alameda County to do the outreach. Rather than waiting for our patients to come to us, we’re going to them.”
