Kaiser Poll: Most Uninsured Remain Unaware of March 31 Deadline
By mid-March, six in ten of the uninsured were still unaware of the March 31 deadline to enroll in coverage, according to the results of the latest Kaiser Health Tracking Poll, which were released today.
Even after they were reminded of the deadline and the fine for not getting covered, half of the uninsured said they planned to remain without coverage. Four in ten said they planned to get coverage and one in ten were unsure.
A third of the uninsured said they had tried to get insurance for themselves in the past six months, but most — 67 percent — said they had not tried to get coverage.
The survey was conducted from March 11 to 17 among a nationally representative sample of 1,504 adults reached by telephone. The margin of error for the full sample is plus or minus three percentage points.
