Want to Work in an Inslee Administration?
Building a new state government administration isn’t the easiest thing to do in Washington.
Gov. Gregoire, with little time or flexibility due to the long running court challenges in 2004, largely relied on staff from Gov. Locke’s administration.
Gov. Elect Inslee has committed to bring in new ideas and new thinking to state government, though, which means one should expect a reasonable amount of turnover among the thousands of positions in Olympia.
The job of Secretary of DSHS is a particularly tough one to fill. The Inslee transition team is conducting a nation-wide search for that position, and has posted the job description online.
In that, you can see the Core Competencies for new hires in the new administration, including:
Ability to generate new and innovative approaches to problem solving that are effective and responsive.
Measure success by outputs rather than inputs.
Existing senior Gregoire leadership has been allowed to apply for positions as well, though they have been notified that they will remain on only in an interim basis until Inslee makes his final choice.
