HCA announces apparently successful bidders for Cascade Care public option plans
The Health Care Authority announced on Thursday the apparently successful bidders (ASBs) for the Cascade Care public option RFA. The five carriers are: Bridgespan, Community Health Network of Washington, Coordinated Care, LifeWise, and UnitedHealthcare.
The Health Care Authority says the ASBs proposed a coverage plan for almost every county in Washington.
The next steps in moving forward with the public option are:
- “Review and approval of health plan filings by Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC).
- Contract negotiations and final review with HCA.
- Final certification of plan offerings with the Washington Health Benefit Exchange (HBE) Board of Directors.”
According to the RFA, contract negotiations will take place from July-September of 2020. OIC filing approval and HBE board certification will also take place in September.
The HCA says COVID-19 will likely lead to “continued refinement” of the Cascade Care proposed plans. These refinements might include reduced cost sharing to consumers.
