Governor Inslee makes two Board of Health reappointments

Gov. Jay Inslee made two Washington State Board of Health reappointments. Mason County Local Health Officer Dr. Diana Yu and Marysville City Councilmember Donna Wright have been appointed to another three year term.

[pullquote]Dr. Diana Yu and Marysville Councilmember Donna Wright keep spots on board[/pullquote]Dr. Diana Yu is a healthy living, healthy aging advocate who has been in public health practice since 1986. She currently serves as the Local Health Officer for Mason County, and previously worked as the Local Health Officer for  both Thurston (1990 to 2013) and Lewis counties (1999 to 2007). Dr. Yu has served on numerous state and federal governmental public health boards and commissions including the National Association of County and City Health Officials Media Champions, Stop TB USA, and the Governor’s Commission on Early Learning. She currently serves on the board of WA Healthy Communities Foundation, Washington State Senior Games, and Camp Leo for Children with Diabetes. Dr. Yu is chair of the board’s Health Promotion Committee, and represents local health officers on the board.

Marysville City Councilmember Donna Wright served as a member of the Snohomish Health District Board of Directors from 1995 to 1999 and from 2002 to present. A councilmember for 20 years, she served four years as mayor pro tem and is a former planning commissioner. Councilmember Wright represents elected city officials who served on a local board of health for the board.

The Washington State Board of Health serves the citizens of Washington by working to understand and prevent disease across the entire population. Efforts to highlight public health include rule-making, outreach projects, special project initiatives, health impact reviews, and our work with the Governor’s Interagency Council on Health Disparities.
