The 2020 Health Care Debate
Former Governor of Oregon John Kitzhaber recently announced the publication of his paper entitled “Reframing the 2020 Health Care Debate.” The Progressive Policy Institute published the paper on Monday.
As you know, over the past year I have been working to try to impact the focus of the 2020 health care debate to ensure that it brings some relief to the millions of American families who continue to struggle under the growing financial burden of our medical system. I am glad to report that tomorrow I am heading to Washington, DC for two meetings sponsored by the Progressive Policy Institute (PPI) to discuss my paper on Reframing the 2020 Health Care Debate. The first meeting is a private dinner discussion tomorrow including key congressional health policy staff and representatives from a number of stakeholder organizations including America’s Physician Groups, the American Hospital Association, America’s Health Insurance Plans; and Premier, Inc., a health care improvement company. Also invited are representatives from several DC based policy groups.
The second meeting will be a panel discussion on “Health Care 2020” What’s Missing from the Debate.” This will be held at 1pm on Wednesday in the Rayburn House Office Building. Joining me on the panel will be Anand Parekh, MD, MPH, Chief Medical Advisor, Bipartisan Policy Center; and Tara O’Neill Hayes, Deputy Director of Health Care Policy, American Action Forum.
