Oregon news outlets are reporting that Aelea Christofferson, a Bend businesswoman, has resigned from the Cover Oregon board and is planning to run for Congress in Oregon’s 2nd district.

The Bend Bulletin is reporting that Christofferson announced Monday she will seek the Democratic nomination to run against Rep. Greg Walden, R-Hood River.

Christofferson, 61, is the founder and president of ATL Communications.  She told the Bulletin her resignation from the Cover Oregon board is effective immediately.

The board, which will hold its next monthly meeting this Thursday in Portland, is currently seeking a new executive director for the exchange to replace Rocky King, who permanently resigned on January 1. Bruce Goldberg has been acting executive director since King went on medical leave in December.
