OHA Approves Eight New Coordinated Care Organization Health Plans

Eight new health care plans have been certified as Coordinated Care Organizations (CCOs),  to begin serving Oregon communities beginning August 1, 2012, according to a news release at Oregon Health Authority.

Oregon’s Coordinated Care Organization program, created with bi-partisan support in the state legislature earlier this year, is designed to provide care for OHC/Medicaid enrolled populations. The  intent in creating the new CCOs is to manage, deliver, and coordinate mental and physical health care, efficiently and affordably.

The eight certified CCOs certified to begin enrollment August 1, along with the communities they are contracted to serve are:

  • AllCare Health Plan – All of Curry, Josephine, Jackson and part of Douglas counties
  • FamilyCare, Inc. – Clackamas, Multnomah, Washington, and part of Marion County
  • Intercommunity Health Network Coordinated Care Organization – All of Benton, Lincoln and Linn counties
  • PacificSource Community Solutions, Inc. – All of Deschutes, Crook and Jefferson and part of Klamath counties
  • Trillium Community Health Plan – All of Lane County
  • Umpqua Health Alliance – Most of Douglas County
  • Western Oregon Advanced Health, LLC – All of Coos and Curry counties
  • Willamette Valley Community Health, LLC – All of Marion and most of Polk countie

Addition plans are expected to be certified later in the year.

Bruce Goldberg, M.D. and OHA Director maintains that new CCO clients will not see much of a change in the beginning. He added that Oregon Health Plan benefits are not changing and services already covered will continue under the new CCO program. “These improvements are not only about lowering costs,” said Dr. Goldberg. “We will be measuring the success of the new CCOs based on how well they do to improve the health of the people they are serving. And we will all be accountable for that.”
