Baker says that health care providers should seize the opportunity to have these conversations with their clients as mental health becomes less stigmatized. The push for more behavioral health conversations, according to Baker, should include everything from struggling with depression, substance abuse, or even a loved one’s behavioral hardships.

“We need to take this opportunity to make sure that we continue the conversation, that we talk to providers and that we are able to help providers in the primary care setting feel more comfortable taking care of members with low to moderate acuity behavioral health concerns because we know that there are not enough behavioral health specialists out there in the field right now.”
