Sen. Hirono will vote against new CR if DREAM Act and CHIP funding not included

Yesterday, Senator Mazie Hirono tweeted her plans to vote against a new continuing resolution if it does not include funding for the DREAM Act and CHIP.

Hirono writes,

“I will vote against a CR that doesn’t include the #DREAMAct, funding for CHIP & CHCs, & defense/non-defense parity. Instead of doing anything that would actually help people, Republicans want to give huge tax cuts to the rich. Talk about misplaced priorities.”

The current CR provides government funding until this Friday, but Speaker Paul Ryan plans to pass another CR by the end of this week to avoid a government shutdown. The newly proposed CR would fund the government until Jan. 19.
