Florida DOH releases RFI for Children’s Medical Services Managed Care Plan

The Office of Children’s Medical Services, through the Florida Department of Health (DOH) released a request for information (RFI) last month, seeking best service delivery practices for children with special health care needs (CYSHCN).

Medicaid-eligible CYSHCN under the age of 21 can receive health coverage through Children’s Medical Services Managed Care Plan (CMS Health Plan). Covered services include ambulance transportation, behavioral health and substance abuse programs, early intervention, home health and community-based services, occupational therapy, and more. 

The CMS Health Plan covers approximately 91,000 CYSHCN in Florida and is operated by Centene/Sunshine Health through January 31st, 2024. DOH is expected to begin its contract re-procurements for the plan in early 2023.

“The Department is seeking to obtain information through this RFI to assist in the future development of an Invitation to Negotiate (ITN) for the delegation of managed care services,” the RFI said. “The RFI seeks to obtain information from Respondents that have experience with or the ability to provide integrated managed care services for CYSHCN.”
