John Poelman is the director of innovation for the One Utah Health Collaborative—a consortium of stakeholders whose goal is to promote value-based care in Utah. During the recent 2023 Utah State of Reform Health Policy Conference, Poelman told us about what he’ll be focused on in Utah’s healthcare space in the near future.
He outlined the collaborative’s three “key functions:” having state healthcare leaders commit to action, forming alliances, and accelerating innovations.
“We’re not innovating anything new; it’s just promoting, supporting, [and] funding all the other good ideas. Utah is arguably the most innovative state in healthcare in the country, but a problem with innovation is it’s often just so siloed.”
