In terms of MDHHS policy priorities, Hanley said the department is focusing on improving behavioral health care, strengthening the direct care workforce shortage, and addressing the social determinants of health.

“Yes, we’re focused on the direct care workforce. Yes, we’re focused on behavioral health care. Yes, we are working on improving and strengthening our SDOH efforts. But, we are also looking at the full continuum of care, and we are actively working with our aging community to better understand their needs.”
