The Arizona Medical Association (ArMA) announced a new Association Health Plan (AHP) for medical facilities on Sept. 9. The new AHP will “provide competitive rates for comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, and AD&D insurance plans to small and mid-sized medical practices in Arizona,” according to ArMA.

The AHP will only be available to ArMA members and is designed to “improve access to quality healthcare options for medical practices across the state.”

Libby McDannell, CEO of ArMA, explained that the new offering will be especially beneficial to smaller facilities.

“Many of our members work in small to mid-size medical practices, and that makes it difficult to have great health insurance options. In this era of low unemployment and a workforce shortage in healthcare, health insurance benefits have become even more vital.”

According to ArMA, medical practices across the state, especially smaller practices, have been under a constant financial burden with the pandemic. The announcement of this new offering by ArMA should help ease some of the financial strain.

The release states:

“By banding together with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona (BCBSAZ) and the National Medical Health Collaborative (NMHC), ArMA is able to leverage its collective size to ease the financial strain for our state’s smaller medical practices. Through the AHP, medical practices with as few as two employees can receive health insurance and other benefits at rates traditionally available to only large group employers.”
