This partnership is another effort from HAP to expand tailored Medicare Advantage products and educate seniors of their coverage eligibility. In 2019, HAP partnered with Mercy Health to reach West Michigan residents to get them covered on their Medicare Advantage plan.

The partnership will extend HAP’s reach to roughly 100,000 more eligible seniors, which includes a portion of the 270,000 MSU alumni based in Michigan.

According to MSU, insured adults are more likely to be screened for preventative care measures for conditions such as cardiovascular disease, colon cancer, and diabetes. Seth Ciabotti, CEO of MSU Health Care said:

“The partnership with HAP is critical to our mission to improve the health of our communities. Research has shown that lack of insurance is a barrier to receiving timely health screenings and preventive care. Through the HAP/MSU Health Care partnership, exceptional health care and cost-effective insurance opportunities come together to support better health outcomes.”

This signifies one of the first major outcomes of the Henry Ford Health System and MSU partnership announced in February 2021. This agreement is designed to improve health outcomes through addressing health disparities for underserved communities, training the next generation of health professionals, and supporting research.
