Kennedy said his approach to policy making has less to do with what political party a bill comes from and more to do with whether or not he considers it good policy. Describing his experience in the Senate as very collegial, he emphasized the need for legislators to look for ways to work together to find ways to improve the health of Utahns.
“It’s been sad to see, frankly, these culture wars associated with, ‘What is the best approach for the health and well-being of our people?’”
Kennedy also praised Gov. Spencer Cox’s success during his short time in office so far. He is appreciative of the governor’s collaborative approach with the Legislature, and is glad to see him prioritizing rural communities in his proposals.
In the same Keynote, DJ also spoke with Natalie Gochnour, director of the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute, and Jon Pike, Utah’s insurance commissioner — keep an eye out for these videos from us next week!
