What They’re Watching: Hass Rifaat, Vatica Health
Hass Rifaat is the CEO of Vatica Health. He joins us in this edition of “What They’re Watching” to discuss simplifying legislation for physician adoption.
“The major thing I am spending my time on is this transformation to value-based care. We serve small and medium size primary care physicians and they really do not have the time to keep up with what is going on. So, making sure that I keep up with all the changes that are going on, and the different types of programs that they payers and the government is offering is really key.
I think a key program is one that is simple and easy to understand, and something that is within the means of the physicians to take that first step. Part of the problem is that they think it requires them to have a lot of technology and a lot of people. You know, when I went to my 30th year Med-school reunion half of my classmates said that there response to value-based care was to retire! They are just overwhelmed by it all.
Making sure that they can take a simple, affordable step to move in the right direction and then to be compensated so that they can build the next step and make it easy to go from step one to step ten, in simple bite-sized peices that they can afford to do so that they ultimately do not become employed by a large health system or rely on outside capital to do that work…I think this is something that policymakers should really be thinking about.”
