Laura Zaichkin to depart HCA
In an email this morning, Laura Zaichkin announced her departure from the Health Care Authority. She was the Deputy Chief Policy Officer originally hired under Nathan Johnson while he served as the Chief Policy Officer.
After more than five years with the Health Care Authority, I will transition to a new role with SEIU 775 Benefits Group, where I will direct and manage health purchasing strategy and implementation for long-term home care workers in Washington state and Montana.
It has been the greatest privilege of my professional life to work alongside you to advance a healthier Washington. It is because of your partnership and leadership that the state has made great strides in progressing quality care, smarter spending and healthier populations.
Zaichkin was one of the leading drivers of implementation of the 1115 waiver. She has been one of the leading advocates of the ACH model while at the HCA.
With the sweep of departures from the Health Care Authority, it is not clear who will step into the role of executive sponsor of the waiver and for innovation in Washington State.
