At our recent 2023 Texas State of Reform Health Policy Conference, we had the opportunity to talk with the conference host, Health Management Associates (HMA) Principal Carter Kimble, about what he’s watching in state health policy. A key priority area for Kimble is addressing non-medical drivers of health.
Access to things like food, housing, and transportation is increasingly being considered as critical to patient health, and is a central priority for HMA, he explained.
“[HMA is] engaged with all different levels of state and local governments, health plans, providers, nonprofits, and community-based organizations, so I’m really excited about some of those because it’s been a long time coming.”
