What They’re Watching: Brian Myers
Brian Myers, senior director of rural health & capacity building at Empire Health Foundation, joins us in this edition of What They’re Watching to discuss rural health initiatives.
We’re doing a lot right now with our rural health initiatives, focused on older adults, seniors and elders in rural communities, and how to best support them in a measurable and sustainable way, to live, thrive, in their communities of choice. This includes a multitude of programs. Our portfolio includes things that include technology, hospital-based, home-based, community health worker initiatives, medication management. And at the root of a lot of it is the core of patient activation, and how to get folks engaged in their health. And how to utilize the strengths of all of our community partners, so that they can best work with their infrastructures to meet folks where they’re at in their communities, and best serve them in the way that they know how.
Note: This was recorded at our 2016 Inland Northwest State of Reform Health Policy Conference on Sept. 14, 2016.
